What is naked raku?

It’s a decorative technique which leaves the surface of the finished pot uncovered, naked.  Although glaze is involved, during the process it falls away, leaving its mark.

Naked Raku is quite a process – once the pot has been thrown on the wheel and turned, to refine the form and create the foot-ring, there are still 13 stages to go.  And some are dramatic.
